On March 11 at 2:46pm a massive 9.0-magnitude earthquake occurred near the northeastern coast of Japan, creating extremely destructive tsunami waves which hit Japan just minutes after the earthquake, and triggering evacuations and warnings across the Pacific Ocean. The earthquake and tsunami have caused extensive and severe damage in Northeastern Japan, leaving thousands of people confirmed dead, injured or missing, and millions more affected by lack of electricity, water and transportation.
This Earthquake is one of the biggest ever. The earthquake and tsunami has affected over many countries and cities. Including Hawaii which killed 138 people. $50 million dollars of damage in Japan. 500,000 dollars in damage in the United States. The earthquake in Japan lasted five minutes ( 5 minutes) straight causing damages all over the country.
People were hurt during the earthquake. Some were able to run from falling buildings. In a small city in Japan a lady said their not helping them and that there basically going to cleanup themselves. If they do go, they only take pictures or video. Since the earthquake there has been three nuclear explosions and this really harmed people. There are about 8,000 people have died in Japan and more are missing.
